Creating calm, considered environments is central to the spa and wellness experience and furniture plays a key role in shaping how those spaces feel and function. From relaxation lounges to poolside terraces, every detail should support comfort, flow and durability without compromising on style. In this blog, we explore what to consider when specifying furniture for spas and luxury health clubs, and highlight a selection of pieces designed to perform beautifully in these settings.
What materials work well for Spa Furniture
Powder-Coated Aluminium
Lightweight, rust-resistant and highly durable, powder-coated aluminium frames are ideal for both indoor and outdoor spa areas. They hold up well in damp environments and are easy to clean without compromising their finish.
All-Weather Woven Rope & Synthetic Fibres
These materials offer softness and visual texture while standing up to moisture, UV rays, and regular cleaning. Woven details work beautifully in relaxation areas, bringing a crafted, tactile element to the space.
Polypropylene
Lightweight, UV-stable and non-porous, polypropylene is a practical choice for spa and poolside environments, particularly for sun loungers and casual seating. It won’t absorb moisture, resists fading and chlorine exposure, and requires very little maintenance.
Wood
Wood is not generally recommended for indoor spa areas due to its porous nature, which can lead to rot and decay and weakness when exposed a moist, damp environment. However, wood can play a part and works well in other areas of a spa such as reception and lounge areas.
Quick-Dry Foam & Performance Upholstery
For lounges and upholstered pieces near wet zones, quick-dry foam and fabrics like solution-dyed acrylics or coated polyester blends are essential. They resist mould, dry fast, and maintain their colour over time.
Compact Laminate & Ceramic Tabletops
Durable, non-porous and low maintenance, these materials are ideal for side tables and dining surfaces. They resist staining, heat and frequent cleaning, perfect for treatment areas, refreshment zones or poolside settings.
