As Christmas fast approaches, the Protocol team have taken time to reflect on the year and their favourite products that have been new, popular, or featured trendy styles they loved. It has been great to see businesses back on their feet this year and returning to some kind of normality. We have been lucky enough to work on some great projects in 2021 and been able to attend events to see new contract furniture launches as well as trends to look out for in 2022.

We asked the Protocol team to each select their ‘product of the year’, below are their choices.

1. Zoe

“The Zoe offers a modern take on a vintage inspired design with a unique frame and optional ribbed detail to the upholstery which gives it a more nostalgic feel. The collection was launched this year and we have already had some great feedback.”

– Sharon Bridgewater

2. Viki

“I love the look of these coffee tables and the fact they come as part of a larger family with chairs and stools to complement. They are available in two heights and with a wide range of finishes.”

– Kate Wickham

3. Elane

“The Elane lounge armchair offers style and comfort with its shaped seat and back with small opening. It’s presented at a great price and looks great in hotels, reception and other lounge areas.”

– Chris Iron

4. Apero

“The Apero collection was launched at Salone del Mobile this year and I think it will be a popular choice for outdoor areas in 2022. The collection includes a chair, armchair and barstool, available in a great variety of powder coated finishes with an optional seat cushion for added comfort.”

– David Wright

5. Grace

“The Grace collection is a favourite of mine, it radiates sophistication with its stunning wood and brass detail curving around the back. The stool has also been one of the most viewed products on our website this year which shows its popularity.”

– Daniel Brett

6. Corolla

“The Corolla collection is one of my favourites, the seating models feature soft and harmonious shapes that look like they want to give you a big hug every time you sit in them. A new range of tables were launched and added to this collection at Salone del Mobile this year, which are really unique and will make a visual impact to any project.”

– Dawn Millward

7. Nature

“The Nature sofa has been specified for some great projects we have worked on this year – in particular the elephant and safari lodges at West Midlands Safari Park. The collection is inspired by bamboo forest shapes which makes it a real stand out piece that offers  both style and comfort.”

– Demi Cassie

8. Net

“Sustainability has been high on the agenda this year, so my choice is the Net sofa which is made of recycled fiberglass polypropylene resins. The collection also includes a chair, armchair and lounge chair, all available in some great bright colours. We will hopefully see the sofa feature in an exciting potential project for 2022!”

– David Crux

9. Coco

“The Coco collection has been popular this year and effortlessly fits into any space with its unique style. We supplied the chair from this collection to Mickeys Beach back in April and I think it looks great, especially with the contrasting wooden frame and upholstered back and seat.”

– Lewis Walker-Dobson

10. Arki

“With the shift to working from home since the beginning of the pandemic, it was important to offer furniture in 2021 that assisted with the future of remote work. Our Arki Table Desk is a single workstation which creates a dynamic home office space. It is height adjustable and features tidy cable access and a sound absorbing panel.”

– Ben Flowers
